There are so many reasons why we should be kind to everyone. Practicing kindness is not a difficult thing to do. It would make the world a happier place.

What is Kindness?

Kindness means having the quality of being friendly, generous and considerate, according to the Oxford dictionary. It is simply being good to the people around us, in ways such as being courteous to them, helping them when needed, giving them emotional support, boosting their morale or being supportive to them.

Benefits of Kindness

Acts of kindness always comes back to us in a positive way.

#1. Kindness improves your mood

When you perform acts of kindness, the feel-good hormones are released. It releases serotonin in your brain which improves your mood and oxytocin, which makes you feel connected to other people. As one, means that it has an effect of making you feel loved and emotionally stable when you are kind to others.

#2. Kindness can make you happier

As soon as you do something kind for someone, you feel happy and feel good. It is believed that the good feeling is because of the raised levels of dopamine in the brain, which means that you feel a natural high, is called the “Helper’s High”.

#3. Kindness can lower stress levels

The more acts of kindness that people perform throughout the day they are less likely to have negative emotions, which has a good effect on stress levels.

#4. Kindness is contagious

Kindness is such as good thing that it inspires others to be kind. It creates a domino effect. So when someone does a good deed (showing kindness) it improves other people’s mood that they want to do a good deed too.

#5. Kindness creates better relationships

We all know that we prefer people to be kind to us. When you are being kind to someone, they understand that they mean something to you. With kindness, oxytocin (the love hormone) is increased and helps lower blood pressure, improve overall heart health, increases self-esteem and optimism, which is good for relationships.
